Puri All Set for Smooth and Safe Rath Yatra 2025 with Enhanced Facilities and Special Measures
Puri, Odisha – June 2025: With just days to go for the world-famous Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, the holy city of Puri is witnessing an energetic flurry of final preparations. Odisha Minister Prithviraj Harichandan confirmed that 80% of the preparatory work is complete, with the remaining set to conclude well ahead of the Rath Yatra scheduled for June 27, 2025.
In Puri, a high-level coordination meeting was convened to finalize the strategic plans for Snana Purnima on June 11 and the Ratha Yatra on June 27. All the arrangements are well supervised by the Sri Jagannatha Temple Administration (SJTA) to ensure effective coordination with servitors and various local departments.
Arabinda Padhee, SJTA Chief, revealed plans for major infrastructure enhancements along the Snana Mandap and Grand Road (Bada Danda), the primary route for processions. These enhancements aim to offer a safer and more comfortable darshan experience for the lakhs of devotees expected to attend. Rituals such as Senapatalagi, the ceremonial preparation of the deities, will commence from June 10.
To accommodate the massive influx of pilgrims, 365 special trains are being arranged by Indian Railways. Meanwhile, the Health Department will deploy 300 additional doctors to provide emergency medical care. Authorities have released a stringent Covid advisory, urging individuals with symptoms to refrain from traveling to Puri during the festival period.
The 11-day Rath Yatra festival will begin on June 27 with the grand spectacle of pulling the chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra to the Gundicha Temple. The divine idols will first undergo the sacred Snana Yatra (ritual bath) followed by the Anasara period, a phase of rest and seclusion before they appear for public procession.
The vibrant city of Puri is prepared to welcome millions of devoted followers of Lord Jagannatha for a spiritually uplifting and safe Rath Yatra 2025, thanks to meticulous planning.
