Gupta Navratri, often referred to as Ashadha Navratri is a spiritually significant but relatively lesser-known nine-day Hindu observance devoted to honoring the nine divine manifestations of Goddess Durga, collectively called Navadurga. Unlike the more widely celebrated Chaitra and Sharadiya Navratris, Gupta Navratri is observed with a deeper spiritual focus, often by those engaged in intense sadhana (spiritual practices), tantrik rituals, and silent devotion.
In 2025, Gupta Navratri will commence on Thursday, June 26, as per the Hindu calendar’s Ashadha month. The festival, observed primarily in northern India, spans nine days and nights, during which devotees perform various rituals, chant mantras, and follow fasting practices to invoke the divine feminine energy of Goddess Durga.
The term “Gupta” means “secret” or “hidden,” and as the name suggests, this Navratri is often celebrated quietly and with personal devotion rather than public festivity. It is particularly significant for sadhaks, tantriks, and spiritual aspirants who believe that the energies during this period are especially conducive to intense spiritual growth and blessings.
Rituals during Gupta Navratri include daily pujas, recitation of Durga Saptashati, and offerings of flowers, fruits, and sweets to the goddess. Fasting is a central part of the observance, with many devotees consuming only fruits or simple meals once a day. Each day is dedicated to one of the nine forms of Durga, beginning with Shailaputri and ending with Siddhidatri on the ninth day.
While it may not have the grandeur of Sharadiya Navratri, Gupta Navratri holds immense significance for spiritual seekers. It is a time for inner reflection, connecting with divine energies, and seeking protection, wisdom, and spiritual upliftment.
With Gupta Navratri 2025 drawing near, devotees are getting ready to observe the sacred days with deep devotion and spiritual discipline, beginning June 26. It is seen as a powerful time for inner purification and seeking the blessings of the Divine Mother.
Ashadha Navratri Parana in 2025 will be observed on Friday, July 4, marking the conclusion of the nine-day festival. As per Drik Panchang, the Parana rituals should be performed after 4:31 PM on that day. The Navami Tithi begins on July 3 at 2:06 PM and ends on July 4 at 4:31 PM.
